Modeling fruit and vegetable consumption in Serbia

Although regular intake of fruits and vegetables has an essential role in a healthy diet well-being, majority consumers Serbia have suboptimal these groceries. To understand the main determinants this unsatisfactory situation, study tested extended model theory planned behavior intending to suggest necessary steps for improving daily intake. This theory, knowledge, was using structural equation modeling. Fit indices confirmed utility explaining consumers' as well mediating behavioral intentions. Serbia, one central developing countries Balkans, chosen test with possibility applying it other facing malnutrition. Data were collected North through online survey (n=688). Despite high awareness vegetables' beneficial health effects, influence knowledge only is not sufficient trigger changes. Consumers' intentions should be influenced indirectly, by changing their attitudes subjective norms. All custom-made activities promoting higher fruit vegetable consider present findings achieve bigger effect on changes among consumers.
